About the Teacher

Heather M. Rockwell

Heather holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance and Anthropology from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. She studied under Alice Pascal-Escher, Barbara Hayley, Adele Myers, and Beverly Trask. She has trained in residencies under Doug Varone and Dancers, Skip Costa, Donna White, Denise Jefferson, and Liz Lerman Dance Exchange.She has performed with the People’s Touring Project, directed by Kelly Drummond Cawthon and Adele Myers in New Orleans, LA, Jacksonville, FL, Gainesville, FL, and New York, NY. She created “A Pincushion Affair,” her Senior Dance Production, in which she choreographed, managed, presented and danced in four pieces at Tulane University. In addition to dance, she was a former competitive gymnast for four years, and began teaching gymnastics classes at the age of fifteen. She has been a member of the Newcomb Dance Company, and she has taught master classes for the Wilson School of Dance. She has also been a dance and gymnastics instructor for the City of Charlottesville, Virginia and is currently a choreographer for Jefferson Youth Theatre.
